I really need to try and lose some weight, I think I have to commit to not playing sunday soccer anymore because it is not doing me any good.

I also would like to reward myself with a new gaming system soon.

I figure the xbox360 is the best prize because of its extensive game library and price.

The Wii would be nice but it does not seem to be readily available.

I can't wait for pay day.
Yesterday I got pushed by a silly little competitive boy named James while playing soccer, I fell smack into the ground where my weak knees felt agony I havn't felt for a long time. I managed to refrain from smashing his small fragile body into the ground. Why did he push me? Because he wanted to win, further proof that we live in a broken world, where winning is more important than getting along and having fun.

Or is it just some countries like Singapore that have this problem?

I don't recall Australia ever having this problem with sports...

Anyway I just spent the entire day inputting data into a system (Confidentiality), was extremely boring and I also helped my other intern complete her ang pao work. I worked till 1030pm on friday night to complete 300 odd orders for ang paos.

Saturday was a sad day because I realised that all the friends I have left will always be busy on saturdays be it other commitments, girlfriends or misc stuff. I wonder what I can do about that. Make new friends or hang out with other people I guess.

So far I've been in Fixed Income, Corporate Sales and Structuring, Relationship Management and hopefully before I go I'll get to meet people in Investment Banking as well as in various areas of trading.

Has it been a fun ride? Some parts are/were, but the endless stream of menial work is tiring and annoying. I fear a future of doing more of this sort of thing, I thought after army and after uni I'd finally get a chance to do something fun and exciting but it might not be.

I also missed uncle ngoi's 8am sms on sunday to go help him in surgery, it was unfortunate because I really wanted to go, but had stayed up late the previous night hanging out with dan and yado.

Spent last night trying to complete as much of the ang paos as I possibly could, went to about 300 odd then stopped.

What a tiring week. now I'm bored. These weekends are so dull because all my friends and other friends always have something on so I have nothing to do.

I need one of the new game consoles seriously and I need some extra cash. No more buying books, just get a good console once you get a chance and some nice games to play on the evenings of boredom. As well as the saturday of boredom.

This is truly singapore for me, quite sad it is. Sigh.

Life as a Doctor v.s. Life as a Banker

Why become a doctor? Older doctors state:

1. The closeness you feel with a patient is more fulfilling then anything in the world.
2. You get to save people's lives and make the world a better place via healing abilities.
3. Respect without envy or bitterness
4. You will never go poor
5. More or less an extremely fulfilling job with like minded individuals working toward a common goal. Save lives.

Why become a banker? Bankers I've met state:

1. Money is exuberant
2. Chances to see many clients from many areas of business
3. Strategise financial plans for companies
4. High chance of being able to be an entrepreuner after banking career
5. Relationships get built between clients and investment banker, but whether close remains to be less likely than in medicine

I suspect that if I do not do my medical degree now I will always regret it for the rest of my life. Eventually I suspect I will want to go into medicine as a later-in-life ambition.

Can I be a doctor starting from 2008? I will have to sit for the MCAT or GAMSAT then go through 4 to 4 1/2 years of medical school with no money, be a junior doctor at the age of 27, be a fully fledged doctor at 29, and take years to refine my skills, not to mention having to work awkward hours and weekends.

Or do I become a banker at 2008? It would take a lot of sacrifice on my part to decide to go into the less interesting end of the business world besides investment banking at the level that I suspect this Tracie does. Sales seems boring and tedious, so does trading. RM might be interesting but not as interesting as medicine, and RM job will not allow me to further my skills to become an investment banker. So I figure my main aim is to go for a financial analyst job then try and become an associate style investment banker for citi. That would be the first choice.

Second choice would be to try and sacrifice some dreams for sense, either James Liu or somewhere else in Citi.

Third choice would be to look else where for a business job.

Forth would be to sacrifice all dreams of business and go straight into medicine. I think that is the best line of strategy I can use for such a situation.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess right now helping people is more of a secondary objective for me because money is an issue.

Because a person can still be a banker and make the lives of the people around him and in the world better potentially more so then a doctor, because doctors need medical supplies which cost money which they do not have the power to have.

I also have that entrepreneur itch that I have to scratch, I would really like to produce a great music team, perhaps a medical team and various other sides of business. And all that require capital and an ability to not die fast, have no commitments to patients and health.

Thus a good game plan must be made for a chance that my life plan may be completed.

Life so far
I feel there's nothing wrong with the way I live, it is just the situation that I'm in that makes things difficult. The leg problem is something I cannot gripe about anymore, I need to accept my fate and live with the pain without thinking of it as a burden. The fat must be dealt with, equipment must be bought.Knowledge? What knowledge do I seek now, language, world politics, world affairs, money.Everything else will come with time. The most important is to enjoy life and not force things to happen.

I'm SOOOOO IRRITATED. I hate hate hate having to rely on my parents for money, there has to be a way for me to make some money. So first main point: Make money so don't have to ask parents for money because they are irritating.Next main point, QUESTION EVERYTHING. Just coz some person says someone is good doesn't mean he's good. Make an informed decision.Scuba diving, SDI = good. PADI = Great. And should have met the dive instructer before picking him, the guy doesn't seem like such a big deal.Guitar. Martin? Go with Eugel, Eugel is a good guy, Zul is a fat smoker.

So what is life now?Family is the same except for the fact that father is stressed. How about me?At this juncture I think I might have lost quite a few friends in the focus of becoming who I want to become.I have also taken some risky moves to learn certain things about myself. As well as learn what I'd like in others. So what am I left with? A church full of half friends, the barker guys, my family, my dreams, my ambitions. What did I learn from my mistakes?- Don't go out to do things that you instinctively know are not going to end well.- Don't try and solve other people's problems unless they're looking for help ( you know this so stop making this same mistake).

Amazing lethargy
I feel really really shitty today. For a number of reasons:1. Spent disgusting amounts of money on stupid things2. Irene issues, trip up, her problems, stuff, ugh.3. Leg problems4. Scratched car5. Damaged glasses6. Got face smashed, injury7. Realised at the end of the day, life is really hard, and doing it alone is impossible...- Tomorrrow I start following Mr James Liu around, hopefully I learn something useful, might be good to think about what I want to talk to him about tomorrow.-

Stupid computer.
The damn thing crashed again.AGAIN!So annoying. I hope the shop can fix it once and for all, the drivers are all messed up. Sigh I really hope it works again, I don't think my parents will get me a new one. It's damn hot today and I still have 3 days to sit around without a proper computer...It's gonna be a longgggggggggggg week.

Back to guitaring
Just spent the past 2 hours just blasting it out on the guitar, with my new 13 gauge strings totally screwing up the action on my guitar, I was forced to use paper to raise the strings up a tad so the guitar wouldn't buzz.On the plus side, I had a lot of practice on my vocals and I met a fellow named Tyler who seems to be musically inclined. Vocal wise I'm happy to note I can still hit those high notes, thank goodness nothing's really changed in my voice. Now I just need to increase my repetoire of songs then maybe just maybe I can find a job at a lounge/ pub.

Trying to get grounded again
It's been a while since I've felt this close to church, I won't say I'm too close to God yet but I can feel my spirit being uplifted by the goodness of the people around me.I think Hillsong might be the right choice for me to grow and learn, and the connect groups I've been to have been fantastic.

Home away from home
After my three week break I'm back in Sydney in my new room which is bigger than the old one, much quieter, and I extended my bed with a crate, pillows and a blanket which has made it into a sofa when the guys come over to play games and watch tv.My operation went well, leg doesn't get stuck like last time. Suspect in a few weeks I'll be able to be as flexible as I'm ever going to be, and in a few months I'll be in decent shape.Hope to find myself a job playing my guitar at a pub this semester if that doesn't work perhaps a waiter or bartender job. Parents offerred to help but an admin job sounds really boring. So main things to join are: Art school? Golf lessons, bartending lessons and more practice for guitar.

Australia vs. Japan
Do you want to know what is one of the most glorious things in life to experience? When the underdog wins.I know it has been a few days since this happened but that night was one of the most glorious things to happen in my 21 years. So Japan was up 1 point and we come into the second half, this idiot german guy pops up in the middle of the game, and starts bad mouthing Australia behind the Australian side of the table. He and a girl start talking about it loudly behind us. So being the loving caring guy that I am, I not-subtly gave him the signal to shut the * up. So like a wonderful fairy tale the socceroos heard our cries for one goal, then our screams for another and whoa another. I promptly turned around in great sportsmanship and laughed loudly at this german kid's face, following which I danced around the wool room with much gay-ity.Yes I am a wonderful person.

The greatest profession of them all
So today I came back from dorm lunch after looking through those wonderful corporate law notes and thought about my dive and desire to jump into just about every career I had ever dreamed off. First the medical (opps too boring thanks), the law (opps too much thanks), the psychology (Opps too crazy thanks) and now I'm right at the end with the CPA (Omg what have I done, thanks). From hoping to help people via medince, to helping people via law, to helping people via mental to helping people via money, or was that helping me via money? So after sorting myself through all professional sorts of degrees I have decided to professionalise myself in that one glorious area of life which is Money.I think finding the humour in disaster is very important. But I keep my dreams in the back of my mind. Always in the back of my mind (MOVIES, COMICS, TV SHOWS, SCRIPT WRITING, WALKING DOWN THE RED CARPET, MUSIC STARRRR!!!!)Yes always in the back of my mind.

A new year and a return to an old blog. I guess I decided against a new blog name because "Towards Eternity" is a reminder that we eventually die and while I still have my doubts about heaven and hell, I think I shouldn't lose sight of God and Christianity.

So it's the first day of 2007 and man has life changed. I mean how many thousand mistakes have I made in the past year? But some big accomplishments as well.
